The words of drag queen RuPaul, EXTRAVAGANZA ELEGANZA!! sums up this year’s Cosmopolitan Lingerie showcase. It was held at the luxury Cape Sun Hotel in Strand Street. It was fierce, dramatic and oh-so-sexy. Cape Towns fashionable and gorgeous people showed up in their numbers, sporting the latest trends of colour blocked sky-high heels and mullet dresses. I mingled while sipping on complimentary blue cocktails that were laced with generous lashings of Absolut Vodka.
Now..now you won’t find me wearing matching lacey underwear everyday (who does that?!) but after last night I might make an effort, after all they looked so preeeeetty. I couldn’t keep my eyes off the floral, push-up bras and knickers…and the models who were so BELLISSIMO! South Africa’s leading models such as Rosette Mogomotsi, Tracy McGregor and Pamela De Silva Rodrigues strutted their lean and tall bodies.
Fashion houses such, Edgars, Guess, Ackermans (yes, Ackermans has become a contender in the lingerie department), this shows one doesn’t need to splash out on expansive underwear to feel sexy. Lingerie power houses Wonderbra, Jockey and Guess didn’t dissappoint. Muscled men aslo featured in the show in briefs. I loved the over-the-top dramantic accessories, of angel wings, tribal head gear and chiffon bum cover ups, which was a tasteful touch. After the show we danced the night away at Club 31 on top of Absa building, where we enjoyed breathtaking views of the city center and Table Mountain, they have the best view. It was a lovely night.
